Amelia Caldwell was first born to Mr. And Mrs. Caldwell. Ten minutes after her birth, the newborn became an older sister to Desiree. The Caldwell family lived in the Shadow Realm, a place where demons and shadows lurked around every corner. Odd place for a family who were far from evil to live. Especially at the expense of looking over their shoulders when it came to the most powerful man in the realm. The twins' parents were against the ways of the Shadow Walker and sought out to avoid him at all costs. The Shadow Walker despised those who defy him. If he couldn't have the Caldwell's at his side, no one could.

When Amelia and her sister were only six, the Shadow Walker ordered his demons to pay a visit to Caldwell Manor. The girls' father moved the girls to safety while their mother held off the demons. Ordered to stay quiet and hide in the bedroom closet until it was safe, Mr. Caldwell left his daughters to assist his wife in fending off the dark beings. It felt like hours had gone by and the silence that lingered in their house was enough to send chills down anyone's spine. 

Not able to tolerate staying in a confined space any longer, Amelia made the bold decision to step out of the closet that she was hiding in with her sister. Holding Desiree's hand, the two young girls made their way to their living room only to come across a devastating scene. Their parents were lying on the floor, drained of their life forces. Frozen in utter horror, Amelia had no idea what to do until Desiree snapped her out of it and made a decision that the two of them had to leave this part of the Shadow Realm. Luckily, Amelia remembered where their parents kept money in case of emergencies. Without wasting another minute, she grabbed the cash and helped her sister pack before leaving their beloved home.

When the twins turned sixteen, they began to experience some weird changes. Amelia would burn up with an abnormal fever, while Desiree was ice cold to the touch. The individuals who ran the girl's home just thought they were sick, but they couldn't be more wrong. It wasn't until the twins sneeze when they discovered what they could do. Amelia let out fire and her sister let out an ice shower. The people who ran the home could not risk the safety of the other girls who stay there, so they arranged for the Caldwell twins to be sent to a different home. Alas they never went, instead they ran away and found an empty apartment to reside in. From that day forward the two supported each other as they took time to learn how to control their newfound powers. Desiree being the annoying but somewhat more responsible sister, decided to enroll them into high school even though Amelia had already protested the idea many times. 

After starting in their new school, the Caldwell twins took on a few odd jobs so they can pay for supplies and keep food in the house. Amelia could only imagine how her sister could think they can pull off trying to have a normal life. Between practicing their powers in secret, to keeping a social worker off their case. It just wasn't an easy task. Even when being bribed with things like cell phones and payments for utilities, which the twins accepted without a second thought, it didn't change the fact that their powers are unstable. Why would a stranger choose to help them? As long as she has her sister Desiree by her side all those worries went away. The best thing for them now is to stay under the radar or risk being caught by the man who sent his demons to kill their parents.
