A tale of fortune and misfortune...

Being chosen to go to the Heavyside Layer was the greatest thing that could have ever happened to Grizabella. She needed a new life and a new start. She wasn't sure if she would see the Jellicle Cats again, but she was grateful for a new page.

 

As a human, Grizabella's new life seemed perfect. She kept the same talents she had as a cat. She was a gifted singer and a talented dancer. She made a career in theatre, performing as leads in many sold out performances. At the end of one particular performance, Grizabella made her way back to her dressing room as she did many times before. She was surprised to see stage management with a man. The man claimed to know Grizabella. Grizabella looked carefully at the man's features and recognised who it was. It was Old Deuteronomy, the cat that had chosen her. She sent stage management away before embracing her dear old friend. She knew about him, living many lives in succession. She assumed this was just another one of his lives. 

 

Grizabella wasn't sure how she would handle her career and her love life, but she handled it all too well. On dark days, she would have dates with the not-so-old Deuteronomy. She would keep him in her dressing room, enjoying his company. They were soon married in a private ceremony. Grizabella wasn't still able to manage being in shows over the years. She now had three sons to take care of. She didn't like being tied down. She got an offer for a new show that was going to open in Vegas. Without telling her family, she packed up her things and left, leaving Deuteronomy and her three children behind.

 

Sometimes, you never know what you had until it's gone. While Grizabella was rehearsing for the new show, she injured herself. There was a loose screw in the rehearsal space that loosened the floorboard. Her right foot sank into the floor, the screw finding its way into her foot. Her shin was badly scraped, splinters sticking to her. After that, she was never able to dance again. She lost her role in the show and had to find work elsewhere. However, everyone heard about what happened to her leg and no one wanted to hire her. Her obvious limp constantly reminded her of what happened. She couldn't afford anything, so she took to the dirtiest parts of Vegas. She still had her beauty. She was able to make enough money on the street, pleasuring men no matter who they were. 

One night, everything went terribly wrong. She was picked up off the street, about to give her usual special. However, the man was abusive. He held her as his captive and abused her. When she finally escaped, she took all of his money and moved to Downtown, hoping she would be less known there. She was able to get a job as a Musical Theatre teacher. She taught through her twilight years. She got to know one particular student. Her name was Hayley. She helped her through the rough times she had, feeling sympathy for her. Grizabella also fell in love with Hayley's adopted father and politician, Garrett Thompson. Though Hayley knows of her cat-self, she hides every secret she has from Garrett, fearing the worst. It may take time for her to open up to him, but she will keep everything a secret for now.
