Deep within the forests of Valara, underneath a poorly made burrow, a newborn baby girl cried out for help. For hours, she screamed, but no one came by. Eventually, a young elf named Adanessa rescued the baby and brought her back to her village. Seeing that the baby was indeed human, the young elf decided to name her Helen, but give the baby her last name, Ornae.

Growing up, Helen knew that she was different from the rest. She felt like Valara was never the place for her. But the druid elves in her home assured young Helen that she would find her place one day.

When Helen was 10, she discovered that she possessed light magic. Seeing how strong it was, the elves immediately began training her. Over time, Helen's power grew immensely. So much so that she was considered a beacon of light. Even still, Helen longed for something different.

When she was 20, Helen discovered a man near the borders of her home. He was the first human she had seen up close. He was dark, brooding, and nothing like Helen had seen before. She had to find out everything about him.

The man refused to tell Helen his name, which only made her interest grow. Helen snuck out to see the man whenever she could. The only thing he told her was that he was a king of sorts, but Helen wanted to know more. One night, Helen followed the man to the Shadow Realm. Though traveling there was forbidden, she couldn't fight her curiosity. She lost him for a while, but visited the region whenever she could.

Eventually, Helen found him again. And he was so impressed that he invited the young woman to visit when she pleased. Over time, the man trained Helen in combat so that she could protect herself while in the region. The demons and shadows didn't phase Helen at all. She encouraged them to challenge her light. The man was impressed with her strength and invited her to stay. But, Helen refused. She still continued to visit the man in the Shadow Realm afterwards.

A few months later, Helen visited the man one last time. This time, with some interesting news. She was carrying the man's child, and Helen wanted to raise the baby with him. Though he resented this at first, he granted Helen's wish and began to tell her everything. The man's name was Damon Morell, better known as The Shadow Walker. This didn't bother Helen at first, but she would soon realize the terrible mistake she made.

Years later, when their daughter, Zelda, was only three, Helen took the time to explore the darker part of The Shadow Realm. She was far away from the ominous castle, and once she saw the horrible things occurring, she wished she'd never walked outside. Those with powerful magic and hearts darker than the night were trained to be in fearsome armies. Those who were kind-hearted and powerless were treated like dirt and forced to work like mindless drones in poor conditions.

Outraged, Helen confronted Damon. But his response was disinterested and cold. Realizing that the man she fell in love with was nothing but a monster, Helen took Zelda and ran away into the night.

That night, Helen lead Zelda to the border between The Shadow Realm and The Lykos Caves. Soon, she would be free to raise her daughter how she wanted. But Damon had been warned about Helen's actions and followed the young woman. They began to chase the woman and her daughter. After nestling the young Zelda in a burrow, Helen ran to fight off the demons. But this time, they were prepared. None of Helen's usual tricks worked, so they had the upper hand in this battle. Helen couldn't do much to fight them off. They attacked with such ferocity that it made Helen very weak.

The shadows made the young woman kneel in front of Damon as he held their daughter. She wasn't going to plead or beg forgiveness, for she didn't fear Damon. Seeing this, Damon decided to inflict a punishment he had never given before. So, using his powers, Damon harnessed his darkness to snuff out Helen's light. Helen screamed, for the pain was excruciating. She slumped to the ground, gazing up at Damon and Zelda. As she felt the last of her magic leave her, Helen spoke her final words to Zelda.

"Goodbye, my darling. May we meet again...."

In addition to draining her magic, Damon replaced it with darkness. Helen's body gave away as a shadow engulfed it. In a matter of minutes, a black snake demon sat in Helen's place. Picking the little thing up, Damon began to speak.

"Now you will never defy me again."

And thus began Helen's life as a demon. The once kind-hearted and bright woman was now trapped in never ending darkness.
