Being the son of Chronos and Rhea, the king and queen of the Titans, Poseidon is the Second eldest son of Chronos, Hades being the elder and Zeus the younger. His sisters are Hera, Demeter, and Hestia. Millennia ago Poseidon was married to the nereid Amphitrite, who is the love of his life. Nothing will ever compare to the love he holds in his heart for her, however when the Vortex was first opened and the god brought to this realm, Amphitrite was not and as such has been forced to travel the lands of the Vortex alone since his arrival. Poseidon will have occasional relationships with other immortal beings, but he is unable to maintain them for any great length of time.

Poseidon is the god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses. He is also known for his rapidly changing temperament which changes at a moment’s notice, much like the ocean when he is irritated. In his younger days, the god was known to often jump to action before thinking, however, he has learned to control his actions considerably with the passing of the millennia, yet his eyes always betray his true emotional state. When calm, contented, and happy Poseidon's eyes are a bright and clear sea green, but when angered, upset, or defensive his eyes become a the steely gray of a storm-tossed ocean.

Although Mount Olympus, located in the Realm of the Gods, is Poseidon’s true home he spends much of his time in the sea near Atlantis or on the beaches of the Marina. He also runs a small aquatic pet store in Steam City called Friends with Fins. In his store, Poseidon often carries many rare and unusual species not often seen or sold as pets in the Vortex. In his spare time, he also volunteers his time at the Marina's Aquarium as the head curator. He delights in making sure that each and every species that inhabits any of the Vortex's waters is represented in the collection while making sure each specimen is in peak health and completely happy.

The sea god has a very opinionated view of the world, which often, but not always, is split into two categories: good and evil. Poseidon is very protective of his family and those they care for as he views them as his adopted family members. The god does not tolerate any threats toward them: verbal or physical. Though often easy going and care free, if roused he will not take a moment to think through his actions in order to protect his family. Forgiveness is something that Poseidon does not give easily, and those seeking it must first prove themselves worthy of his compassion. Poseidon also holds himself to a set of ethics and code of morals that he does not deviate from, for he sees a man, or god, as being nothing without his honor or word.

Of all his family Poseidon loves his nieces and nephews most, especially since they often do not have the best father figures. Insisting on being called Uncle Po, he does his best to provide the paternal role that they were missing in their early lives, while still being the “fun” uncle. It is not often that Poseidon is caught without some form of trinket, candy, or bauble to give to his nieces and nephews to show his affection. The god is also not one to forget major life events and always does his best to provide bothe extravagant, but meaningful gifts to those he cares for on such dates.

The kind and caring nature Poseidon possesses predominates his character, and while he loves easily, it is something that must first be earned. On the opposite side of that coin, if something is done to betray his trust, he will have no qualms about letting you know exactly what he thinks of you. Though the he speaks with elevated diction, he does not mince words and his elegant style of speech always hits home, be it to bolster or batter the spirits to whom he speaks.

NOTE: As with all other gods, if he is out of the Realm of the Gods, he experiences a weakening of his powers. However being one of the three most powerful Olympian Gods, Poseidon still is incredibly formidable and, though somewhat vulnerable, he still retains his immortality. The drawback to this is that because he is outside the borders of the Realm of the Gods, Poseidon can be severely injured.
